Marietta uses normal .txt (Text Document) files to store a song.

Song Header

This header is required. It contains the song number and name.

Verse with Chords

New Verse

A verse begins with Verse: or V:. For the first verse of a song, this marker is optional.
Verse:
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

And grace my fears relieved.

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed!

Chorus

A part of the song that repeats after each verse. it does not repeat after Refrain, Coda or Bridge.

Refrain

Similar to a verse, but has no verse number when it is displayed.

Coda

The concluding part of a song. If the song has a chorus, it does not follow the coda.

Bridge

A transitional part of the song.

Chords

Chords are placed above the text.

End of a song

There are no markers to indicate the end of a song file.
